Christy Johnston

Christy is a joiner and model engineer. She has been making violins for a few years in her small workshop in Stanley.

It takes her from three to four months to make a violin. She uses local wood which she seasons herself for the main body of the instrument: ash and maple for the back and ribs, Scots pine and cedar for the fronts.

The instruments are fixed and finished with traditional glues and shellac.

She offers them for sale so that these beautiful pieces can be enjoyed by others.
