Alison Price
Alison is a visual artist who grew up in Birnam and is now based in Perth. She graduated in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone.
Her work begins in the landscape with a reaction to a place or a moment and is a result of initially painting or drawing on location, then prompted by the sketches, found objects and short video clips she continues to develop work in the studio.
She is interested in mark-making to express sights, sounds and atmosphere and responds by exploring materials and techniques therefore her work is constantly evolving resulting in work ranging from fine calligraphic marks on rice paper to layers of paint on wooden boards.
In addition to her own practice, she delivers life drawing sessions and workshops in the community, care homes and hospitals. Enabling people to learn new skills and develop their own creativity has a positive effect on wellbeing so it is a wonderful thing to share with others.
